People Of Paris Take To Twitter To Offer Help To #ParisAttacks Victims – #PorteOuverte
Paris: As the city was gripped by chaos following a string of attacks that left dozens dead on Friday night, people in Paris opened their hearts and doors to those stranded due to them. Parisians took to social media by offering refuge to those in need. The hashtag #PorteOuverte, which means “open door” in English, is being used by residents in Paris to offer shelter and safety to visitors caught in deadly shooting and bomb attacks as authorities urged people to evacuate the streets.
The hashtag trended globally, with more than 400,000 Tweets using it, in the few hours since its creation. “This account will be used for tweeting and retweeting places to stay safe tonight,” said a post from @PorteOuverteFRA, a Twitter handle opened within hours of the attacks. Dozens of addresses and phone numbers for apartments were being tweeted on the handle, and it was retweeting offers of accommodation from other individuals.
Here’s what some of the people tweeted:

The hashtag had been tweeted out tens of thousands of times on Friday, although many reminded the public to only use it if the shelter offers were in or near Paris.
Reminder: please do not tweet using the Porte Ouverte hashtag unless you are actually in or near Paris offering shelter.

French President Francois Hollande has declared the state of emergency in the country and ordered to close the borders. At least 140 people were reported dead following multiple explosions and shootouts.
Stay strong Parisians. The world is thinking of you.
