Khammam District : Timely intervention of the Police and Fire Department personnel saved the lives of three persons who were stuck in floodwaters at Jalimudi irrigation project construction site in Madhira mandal on Sunday. Site engineer Praveen, a native of Anantapur district, being rescued at the Jalimudi project in Khammam district in Telangana on Sunday.

A site engineer and two supervisors were trapped near Jalimudi after floodwaters engulfed their makeshift huts at the worksite in the morning. Floodwater from upstream gushed into the project site in the morning, leaving two tippers and two other vehicles besides hundreds of bags of cement inundated. On being alerted, a police team headed by Wyra DSP Bhukya Ramreddy rushed to the site and rescued the trio with. The DSP, a swimmer himself, took part in the rescue operation that lasted for more than three hours. The rescued were identified as K Praveen, 22, site engineer, D Kiran, 27, and Ch Somireddy, 52, both site supervisors. The site engineer hails from Anantapur district.
