President Pranab Mukherjee Inaugurates Indian Culture ‘Namaste Russia’ Festival in Moscow

 President of India, Pranab Mukherjee has inaugurated a festival “Namaste Russia” that is a resemblance of our Indian Culture in Moscow. Currently, the President is on his official visit to Russia for four days. The people of Moscow celebrate Namaste Russia as a seven- month long festival with cultural and traditional events. The President said that, it would be enjoyed and appreciated by everyone across Russia.

The President even added that, this festival builds solid bridges and strongly bonds the relationships among friends and increases good understanding between public and various countries.

After inaugurating the festival, he said that, we celebrate this kind of affinities in order to fortify the ethical values through regular cultural festivals in our countries.

In India, Enormous cordiality and respect for Russian culture is been showcased in its sculpture, ballet, literature and traditions. Over 220 years ago, Russia’s Gerasim LEBEDEY who was the first European Indologist established the Bengali theatre in Kolkata. The President said all these words in support of the Russian Ministry of Culture and also said that “Namaste Russia” will spread across various regions of Russia over succeeding six months.

He even added that, as per the response to the fascination and interest in Indian Fine arts throughout Russia, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations will send Indian instructors to some of the regional centres in Russia for guiding the novices and students in various arts like Music, Dance and Sculptures. This kind of efforts will assist the people living in different regions of Russia to excavate their interpersonal skills and develop contemporary and classical Indian culture. He mainly encouraged the Youth to join these cultural interactions.

The President felt delightful when he came to know that the logo for Namaste Russia was designed by a Young Russian from a small town of Krasnoyarsk, who got accomplished and succeeded in an open competition with both Indians and Russians.

Formerly, Director General of Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Satish C Mehta said that, at the time of this festival, Indian groups will perform dance, music and some other cultural events in various cities of Russia

As part of the festival, Indian artists exhibit their paintings and sculptures. ‘Namaste Russia’ festival will be held for seven months from May to November 2015 in the popular Russian cities like St Petersburg, Moscow, Kaliningrad, Rostov-on-Don, Ufa, Kislovodsk, and others.
