Punjab School Education Board to Re-Conduct Class 12 Exams on April 7, 2015

Examinations of 12th standard exams would be re-conducted by the Punjab School Education Board. 12th Standard examinations would be re-conducted by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) on 7th April at six centres.  Examinations of 12th standard were cancelled at at two centres in Tarn Taran and one centre each in Ferozepur, Amritsar, Fazilka and Ludhiana. Schedule of the 12th standard exams has been released which states that the examinations would be conducted between 11am and 2.15pm on 7th April 2015.

PSEB Cancels 12th Standard Exams and Plans to Re-Conduct the Examination on 7th April,2015

Two exams namely Physics and Chemistry exams which were held on March 3 and March 9 were cancelled on Tarn Taran. Eventually History which was supposed to be conducted on 9th March 2015 was cancelled in Ferozepur. Later a Punjabi exam which was scheduled on March 11 in Amritsar and Physical Education exam scheduled on 13th March 2015 was cancelled in Fazilka. Examinations which were supposed to be conducted on 9th March 2015 namely of Chemistry, History and Business Economics subjects were also cancelled in Ludhiana.

All cancelled exams will be re- conducted on 7th April 2015 between 11 am and 2:15 pm allowing the scholars to give examination. Usually as per the schedule Punjab School Education Board Class 12 exams begun on 25th February 2015 and they were supposed to conclude on 19th March 2015.  Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) in has been a apex body of education in Punjab which primarily looks after administration tasks such as prescribing  syllabus, courses of instructions and text books for school education in Punjab besides conducting examinations based on courses listed.

The decision of conducting the examinations again of PSEB came about as the answer sheets were not submitted on time. General Secretary of The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) G S Bath said “We did not receive answer sheets on time from the Kohara centre, so four exams have been cancelled. To eliminate any discrepancy, cheating or tampering, there is no other option but to re-conduct the exam.” He further added on being asked if anyone was responsible for submitting answer sheets in time, Bath said, “Only an inquiry will prove due to whose negligence the answer sheets did not reach in time. The role of the superintendent, center controller and collection centre officials is under the scanner in this case.”

Mr. Bath opined that the submission of sheets depends on the distance of the exam centre from the collection centre, but we expect the sheets to reach within an hour of the day of the exam. Kohara examination centre Rupinder Kaur said “I submitted answer sheets of all four exams on time on the same day at the collection centre. It was their duty to submit the sealed packets further to PSEB.” Later the President of Anti-Copying Teacher’s Front Sudarshan Singh claimed that It is a sad state of affairs that there is no check on submission of answer sheets and students have to pay for the goof-up by teachers and board officials.
