[VIDEO] Rahul Gandhi: RSS Workers Stopped Me From Entering Temple In Assam

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday claimed that during his recent visit to Assam, he was stopped by RSS workers from entering a temple in Barpeta, saying this was BJP’s style of politics which was “unacceptable.”

“When I went to Assam I wanted to visit a temple in Barpeta district. And at the temple the RSS people they stopped me from entering the temple. This is the way the BJP operates. They made the woman there stand at the entrance of the ‘satra’ to stop me from entering the temple,” Rahul said, and asked, “Who are they to stop me from entering a temple?”

Rahul said he visited the temple later in the evening when the RSS workers had left the place. Rahul was interacting with reporters while taking part in a protest by the Congress outside Parliament House over the law and order situation in the state.

Denying the allegations, Basistha Sarma, head of Barpeta Satra has said he and many others had waited for over four hours to receive Rahul, but the padayatra led by the Congress leader took a different route that bypassed the monastery. The RSS too said Rahul’s allegation was “totally baseless.”
