The girl named ‘Malak’ and her smile followed by truckloads of tears went viral a few years ago when a journalist shared the heart-wrenching interview with the girl. She had recently escaped the war zone and was orphaned in the war.

 

While the journalist started asking the questions, she smiled but was barely able to hold her tears and how could she? A little child has endured so much a siege, starvation, ISIS, the death of her parents and this was all coming out of her eyes.

 

The whole world melted at her tears and they offered prayers, help and encouragement. Her famous smile took the centre stage but people too saw the tears in her eyes. Its been years since the video went viral and people were trying to know what happened to Malak. The same people who first found Malak in the first place found her again. She is safe and is all grown up now. Malak’s family returned to the town where they lived before the invasion of ISIS but she didn’t have the luxury of parents.

She now lives with her Grandmother along with 20 other people in a house. Her parents were killed by a rocket hitting their car while coming back home, it took 15 days to recognize the bodies. After enduring so much the smile on the face of the girl is still the same. Finally, it seems that she is safe now and free from pain.

She has grown up now & 8-year-old and goes to school, she has made friends. She plays football with her friends sporting the same smile in that viral video.

 

She loves eating fruits especially bananas, apples, and pomegranates. Her grandmother wants a secure future for her as she knows there is no one to support her and her life is not too very certain.

 

This was all about the girl but there are thousands like her traumatized by the war, the world needs to take a step to secure the future of these children. Malak means “Angel” in Arabic.
