It is obvious that people look for different things in their soulmate. Generally people look for ambition, money, caring personality and others look for generosity. When it comes to girls, they prefer those guys who are good-looking while some want to be with the smart ones. But most of the time, women are looking for those men who are loving and can also provide for the family as they get older.

In the story, a poor boy proposes to the love of his life, the daughter of a rich man. The girl rejected him and said, “Your monthly salary is the equivalent to my daily expenses. How can you expect me to marry someone like you? I can never love you so forget about me. Go and marry someone else of your level.”

Despite being rejected so hurtfully, for some reason, the poor boy could not forget her so easily. Roughly after 10 years, they randomly met in a shopping mall.

She immediately recognized the man and said:

“Hey, you! How are you? Now I’m married, and do you know how much my husband’s salary is? $15,700 per month! Can you beat that? And he is also very smart.”

The man felt his eyes watering with tears hearing those painful words from the woman he used to care for. A few seconds later, her wealthy husband came around and said:

“Sir? G-good afternoon! I see you’ve met my wife!”

The man replied:

“Good afternoon…Mr?”

“Mr. Carter..sir!”

The husband then turned to his wife and said:

“Dear, I would like you to meet my boss. He owns the $100 million company I work for”.

The man just smiled and said,

“Well, Mr. Carter. I’ve got to get going. I have important things to attend to. It was splendid seeing you today. Have a great day!”

For a minute, the couple just stared at the man as he walked away. The lady stood flabbergasted and asked her husband:

“THAT WAS YOUR BOSS?”

The husband responded:

“Yes, dear. He is a wonderful man but his life is quite a sad story. He once told me, the love of his life dumped him as he wasn’t earning enough money. Because of this he worked really hard and has turned himself into a multi-millionaire business man. But he couldn’t move on from the heartache and is still unmarried.

How lucky would that lady have been if she had married that man?”

The lady looked in total shock and couldn’t even mutter a single word. This only shows how we should not judge others’ future with the things that they have right now. It is not a clear basis of what they can achieve in the future.
