A video of Delhi police brutally assaulting students protesting the suicide of Ph D scholar Rohith Vemula has gone viral. The police action took place on January 30 even as students from All India Students’ Association (AISA) were protesting against the death of Rohith Vemula outside the RSS office.

In the video released by the protesters, policemen can be seen brutally hitting unarmed students, sparing not even women. A woman student is seen being slapped by a cop, who then throws her to the ground by pulling her hair.

Along with the policemen, the video also shows some civilians hitting the students. It is not yet clear whether the plain clothes men were policemen or not. Some of the protesters later alleged that the men in plain clothes were RSS supporters.
