Almost three years after the trial began, the Mumbai sessions court is likely to announce the verdict for the 2002 hit-and-run case involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan today. An Indian court has sentenced Bollywood star Salman Khan to five years in jail for killing a homeless man in a 2002 hit-and-run driving incident in Mumbai.

Salman Khan faces 10 years’ Imprisonment:

Khan faces up to 10 years in prison if found guilty following a trial whose every twist has been followed by the country’s media. The judgement in the over 12-year-old case, whose trial saw many twists and turns, can make the career of the actor on whom ride investments of over Rs 200 crore.

Public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat said he had presented the case as best he could to the Bombay sessions court judge, adding “we can only hope but cannot predict” a conviction.
