Sant Rampal has been one of the god men in India and it is hardly ignorable and shocking if you haven’t heard about him since past two weeks. Self styled god man Sant Rampal has been in limelight of media since a past couple of weeks leaving many of the people shocked and unanswered questions such as his early life, his crime behind getting arrested and many other unanswered questions which have left them all in a state of equivocalness. Early Life Sant Rampal:
Rampal is an Kabir Panthi who follows and believes in philosophy and religious community of India encompassing a wide spectrum of beliefs, traditions and practices based on the teachings of Kabir. Rampal was born on 8 September 1951 in Village Dhanana, Tehsil Gohana, District Sonipat (Haryana) in a family of farmers to Bhakt Nandram and Bhaktmati Indradevi. Rampal obtained a diploma in Engineering was appointed as a J.E. in the irrigation department of Haryana Government. While after being a dedicated devotee of lord Hanuman and Lord Krishna spending 25 years of his life in spirituality he claims to be a spiritual successor of Kabir, and some of his followers consider him an incarnation of Kabir.
Head Start as God Men:
Sant Rampal met Kabir Panth Swami Ramdevanand who aged 107 years in his young age and took his aegis. After being an auspices of Swami Ramdevanand Sant Rampal set up an ashram called Satlok Ashram in Karontha, Rohtak followed by many other ashrams including the one in Barwala in the year 1999. He was called as a reincarnation of the famous poet Kabir by many of his devotees.
Tech Savvy Godman:
Being engineer Sant Rampal seems to be proving as tech savvy with website makes him look like a tech and a social media savvy godman. Sant Rampal’s has a live streaming satsang at his well developed website and has a Facebook fan page of 4,462 likes currently and a YouTube channel followed by 3,184 people and watched by many. As per his devotees, and his ashram personnels they say that if any person inspired and planning to be his disciple, you’d have to be much disciplined. His followers are not allowed to worship any other god or go to a place of worship, eat meat or drink alcohol, or indulge in adultery and gambling or even to give or accept dowry.
How did he get into police records?
Sant Rampal have been in to a war of words with the chief of Arya Samaj and his followers in the year 2000 making derogatory remarks against Swami Dayanand Saraswati. Which carried out to be an violent incident in the year 2006 between the followers of Sant Rampal and Swami Dayanand Saraswati leading to the death of one person. And with this incident there has been an charge of probe on Sant Rampal that he has been behind the is whole conspiracy and thus has been charge sheeted and he was taken in custody while he was released in April 2008.
Establishment of Fresh Base:
Sant Rampal after the arrival from jail has set up a fresh base at Barwala town in Hisar. Although again the occurrence of new clashes between the old rivals lead to the death of 10 people and many around 200 people were seriously injured in May 2013. However for his trial for the 2006 murder in Hisar court in July 2014, his followers went on a rampage and tried to disrupt court proceedings. Since his 2008 release, Sant Rampal has managed to skip multiple hearings and is accused of contempt of court along with the murder and attempt to murder charges.

Sant Rampal’s absence to so many hearings of charges against him lead to the issuance of an arrest warrant on 17 November 2014 by the High Court of Haryana which is the main cause of the curfew atmosphere in Hisar and at Ahsram of Sant Rampal.
Why Are His Followers Opposing His Arrest?
Few of his followers believe that Sant Rampal has been a person of ideological principles thus claiming that he is innocence while it is a conspiracy of people who are against him and police are being rude at him and he has been dragged in to an irrelevant criminal case. After the issuance of arrest warrant when the police personals went to arrest the Sant Rampal they were opposed by his followers and personal assisting staff and weren’t allowed in to the Ashram ad turned to rebel against police and Courts decision.
When Was Sant Rampal Arrested?
As per the police and official sources a large mob of 10,000 followers and supporters of Sant Rampal has gathered in and around the Satlok Ashram at Barwala to oppose the arrest of Sant Rampal along with his personal staff. The Haryana police had set a 10 am deadline on Wednesday for Rampal’s followers to vacate the Satlok Ashram at Barwala where the followers claimed that Sant Rampal is not present in the Satlok Ashram at Barwala he is somewhere in incognito. Haryana police has slapped sedition charges on Rampal under Sections 121 (waging or attempting to wage war, or abetting waging of war, against the Government of India, 121A (conspiring to commit certain offences against the state and 122 (collecting arms etc with the intention of waging war against Government of India).
On Tuesday’s 18th November 2014 Sant Rampal has been arrested when a crackdown was made in to the Satlok Ashram at Barwala by the police leaving several journalists who were covering the stand-off attacked and inured by his disciples. This is the third time in two weeks that he has managed to skip the court hearing. On the other hand there were reports which claim that some 12 followers including women and children tried to self-immolate themselves on Monday. On Tuesday 18th November Sant Rampal has been arrested and produced before the court. This states that no one is above law in India whether it is a godmen or common men everyone is equal before law.
