Though there had been a lot of laws created and applied on the people who harass females, still there are people who do the same. Yesterday, a 58-year-old government school headmaster had sexually abused a sixth standard girl in the Karnataka. Later he was arrested. Soon after the incident, more than 30 people gathered and came to a headmaster’s home stripped him and beat him up.

The headmaster of a government higher primary school was trashed by a mob after he allegedly harassed a minor girl in Siddalingapura near Mysore in Karnataka. According to the police, Ramamurthy (58) from Kollegala was transferred to the Siddalingapura government school a few years ago. A sixth standard student complained to her parents that the headmaster frequently harassed her.

When the parents confronted the headmaster, he reportedly did give a satisfactory explanation. Later, the parents came to the headmaster’s home along with a crowd of 30 people, who took him and thrashed. The mob seemed to kill the headmaster but the timely intervention by the police saved him and he was taken into custody.

After the arrest, deputy director of public instructions H R Basappa suspended Ramamurthy, pending the departmental inquiry. “The accused has brought disgrace to the department. We are very upset with the incident. If the headmaster is found guilty, he will be terminated from the service.” The accused allegedly showed pornography clips to the students and used indecent language while talking to them. He also used to touch the girls inappropriately.
