Secretary Kerry To Host Our Ocean Conference In Washington In September
On June 1st in Washington, the US Secretary of State John Kerry hosts the third conference of “Our Ocean” here in September to deal with the issues like marine pollution and climate related issues on the Ocean. According to the official announcement a two day conference is starting on September 16 which is expected to be attended by world leaders.
It is understood by the Secretary of State to seek the participation of Sushma Swaraj, the Minister of External Affairs.
The State Department said that the event titled “Our Ocean, One Future” to build on International commitments to protect the Ocean made at some other previous conference and will combine with Georgetown University to engage the next generation Global Ocean Leaders.
In Washington, DC, Kerry launched the inaugural Our Ocean conference in the year 2014. Where as Chile hosted last year the second meeting.
“As in years past, Our Ocean 2016 will bring together heads of state, scientists, business leaders, NGOs, and others to tackle key issues including marine protected areas, sustainable fisheries, marine pollution, and climate-related impacts on the ocean,” it added.
