Sikhs and Muslims Held Langar in Ludhiana Saying, They Don’t Believe in Religious Fanaticism

A group of Sikhs and Muslims in Ludhiana coordinated in Jama Masjid Mosque, Ludhiana on 8th Oct 2015 at midday to mark International Langar Week 2015. This kind of incidents gives and humble gestures of people in India bore witness to the existence of people of the nation are  hardly concerned about the believe in religious fanaticism and wants to live peacefully.

Tanvir Singh Dhaliwal, a Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) councilor, who said he accepted the invitation as it was for a noble cause. He said “It is in the teachings of our Guru that serving food to the poor is supreme. I appreciate that the event was held in a mosque and I chose to attend it not as an Akali councilor but as a Sikh. Muslims always invite us for feast on Eid. It is good that this time Sikhs offered to serve langar in a mosque.”

Volunteers of Sikh Press Association and Basics of Sikhi placed the banner reading “Hi Langar, Goodbye World Hunger” preferring a mosque as the venue to celebrate International Langar Week. Attended by a large group of people following all major religions took part in the meal made it sure that sure people of every religion are treated with equal respect.
