SpaceX Comes Up With A New Plan To Launch Tourist Missions Around Moon

SpaceX plans to launch a tourist around the Moon under a new plan by using its Big Falcon Rocket (BFR), the company announced on Thursday. The rocket is a massive launch vehicle with a design to ferry people into deep space.

“SpaceX has signed the world’s first private passenger to fly around the Moon aboard our BFR launch vehicle – an important step toward enabling access for everyday people who dream of travelling to space,” the company said on Twitter.

There were no further details from the company but added that more information would be made known on Monday.

Earlier too, the California-based company, under the Internet entrepreneur and Tesla electric car CEO Elon Musk, has talked about such plans to enable the sending of tourists around the Moon.

And in February 2017, SpaceX announced that it aims at sending the world’s first two space tourists around the Moon in late 2018.

The plan was all about a tour to the space using a Dragon crew vehicle which is very much similar to the cargo ships that SpaceX uses on a routine basis to send loads of supplies to the International Space Station.

They would have used a Falcon Heavy rocket to blast off to space.

But in recent month, the company has remained silent about those plans.

The company did never reveal the names and identities of those two tourists and what was there proposed payment terms.

When a request was made to get more details, SpaceX declined to comment but instead said that further information would follow Monday at an event lasting from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm (0030 GMT to 0200 GMT).

Humans did not re-visited the Moon since the final Apollo mission in 1972, marking an era of US national pride.

The first men to explore the lunar surface were American astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin in 1969.

Till now, only 24 people have been to the Moon in the history.

And now, under the US President Donald Trump, the plans are afresh to revisit Moon against and regarding that NASA is currently working on building a lunar gateway that would help in serving as a launching point for various missions bringing great success in the exploration of deep space, such as asteroids or Mars.

SpaceX has proven to become a key commercial partner to NASA and is working on a crew ship as of now that will mark its first flight to the orbiting International Space Station next year which will help in restoring access to space from the US for the first time since 2011.

Boeing is also working hard at work for its crew vehicle as it is also looking for pioneering flights planned for 2019 as well.

Currently, SpaceX is engaged with NASA for a USD 1.6 billion contracts to supply the astronauts living at the ISS, by conducting regular cargo trips on its Dragon spaceship which was launched aboard a Falcon 9 rocket.

The BFR is a powerful launch vehicle and is the newest one of the SpaceX company with a total of 31 engines and the capacity to lift a total of 150 tons into space.
