Telangana IT Minister KTR Criticizes Amit Shah For Questioning Move On Early Elections In The State

Hyderabad: The IT Minister of Telangana, KT Rama Rao, has slammed BJP President Amit Shah for posing questions over the Chief Minister of Telangana, K Chandrasekhar Rao government’s move to go for early elections to the assembly.

The minister was addressing party workers in the city on Sunday. Mr. Rama Rao, son Chandrasekhar Rao, said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi chose to go for early elections in the state of Gujarat when he was the state’s chief minister in the year 2002.

In 2004, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee too also opted to go for early elections in 2004, he made a point. “Then what is wrong if the TRS government goes for early polls”, Mr. Rao, popularly known as KTR, asked.

He also found this opportunity to slam Mr. Shah’s claims that the Centre contributed towards the development of Telangana.

The IT minister from Telangana said that there was no kind of special favors offered by the Centre to the state, which registered a growth rate of 17.17 percent.

“Telangana has been playing a great role in the nation’s development and Shah must understand that the central government depends on states for pooling revenues,” he added.

Mr. Rao put up allegations that the national party of BJP cheated the general public at both the places of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and said that the party has got “no moral right” to ask for votes from the Telugu people.

He said that the leaders from the BJP party are making “dubious” claims that they shall win the assembly elections here.

The rubbishing by KT Rama Rao was over the issue of Mr. Shah questioning on Saturday over the move by Chandrasekhar Rao for dissolving the Telangana Assembly prematurely and “burdening” the people with expenditure.

The Telangana IT Minister, KT Rama Rao is the son of the Chief Minister of Telangana, K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is presently serving as a caretaker Chief Minister for the state on the appointment of the Governor of the state.

Mr. K Chandrasekhar Rao went ahead with his decision to dissolve the assembly amid speculations among the party members, opposition parties, allied parties and the general masses about it. He claimed that he had dissolved the assembly earlier for the benefit of the Telangana people. Experts opine that he opted for such to avoid confusion among the people if the elections were to be held as per the schedule when other parties would be campaigning with good time frame available.
