Actor Aamir Khan is facing severe criticism after his remarks over intolerance in India. He also joined the bandwagon of actors who have raised their voice against incidents of intolerance in the country. The ‘PK’ actor said that he was alarmed over the rising ‘incidents of intolerance’ in the country and that his wife Kiran Rao suggested moving out of India.

People started criticising him without knowing what actually happened. On Monday evening, at an event in New Delhi hosted by the Indian Express newspaper, Mr. Khan told an audience that his wife, Kiran Rao, had suggested moving from the country.

That’s a disastrous and very big statement for Kiran to make to me,” Mr. Khan said.

She fears for her child, she fears what this atmosphere around us will be, she feels scared to open the newspapers everyday,” he added. But he never said that “He wants to leave India!

The actor, who is a Muslim and married to a Hindu, made the comments in response to questions about a recent decision by prominent writers to return national awards in protest at what they say is rising intolerance in India.
