Two BJP leaders have been included in the list of 13 accused persons in a case. A special court in Chhattisgarh which was headed by Abdul Jahid Queshi convicted these 13 accused which included two BJP leaders in them. The reason for accusing all these persons is that they have made trading for acting as couriers for Naxals and supporting them in many illegal activities. Illegal activities are supplying arms, ammunition (Missiles, bullets, bombs etc) and other dangerous materials.

The special court has decided to give five years imprisonment for the two BJP leaders who are businessmen and PWD contractors. The two BJP leaders are Neeraj Chopra and his uncle Dharmendra Chopra. And the remaining eleven others namely Mohan Singh Dhurva, Rajkumar Mandavi, Laxman Usendi, Mohpal, Baliram, Chaitram Dhruv, Phul Singh Nag, Ravi Kadiyam, Badri Gavre are given seven years strictly applied imprisonment. This decision by the court was given on Thursday. The case was filed in January 2014.

One day Police SIB team had got an input that Mohpal Dhurva alias Santosh, Baliram Usendi and Chaitram were smuggling arms and ammunition for red ultras on motorbike. However Police had arrested by chasing them with the information in Abahanpur. But there had been continuous raids carried out in Kanker, Durg-Bhilai, Raipur and Bastar and several people who were either acting as courier or supporter for naxals were arrested.

The two BJP leaders Niraj Chopra and Dharmendra Chopra were taken into custody from Ashoka Ratan Raipur. There had been a statement that these businessmen were allegedly acting as middlemen for large companies, who had held meetings with outlawed members of Communist Party of India i.e. Maoists to negotiate the lifting of ban imposed by them on mining in the region, so that they could easily expand their business.

Police described the unholy nexus is part of Maoists’ urban network, in which government contractors, traders to local sarpanch were involved. According to prosecution, the leaders and their associates also facilitated the stay of Maoists in urban Chhattisgarh, transported their arms and acted as couriers for them. Public prosecutor claimed that the middlemen paid very high sums to Maoists, besides supplying prominent electronic goods store in Raipur.
