UPSC Civil Services Exam Results to be Delayed

UPSC Civil Services Exam Results to be Delayed: Students across the nation who have appeared for the civil services exam for 2014-15 will have to wait for their results as the Union Public Service Commission was yet to come to a conclusion after the Supreme Court of India scrapped the Jat reservation last week, NDTV reported quoting sources. Since the results of the written exam will be late, the final interviews will be held later too. The results, which are usually declared by the end of March, had been prepared after leaving quota for Jats.

Civil Services Result to be Delayed

Civil Services Result to be Delayed:

The UPSC exam was held in August last year after massive protests by candidates over the weight given to English in the Aptitude Test. The matter was even debated in Parliament.

Around 20,000 students take the final examination of the Union Public Services Commission, which is the entrance test for the prestigious civil services in India.

The results already have been prepared. But the UPSC does not want to publish the results now as it may be counter productive as the government is deliberating whether to appeal against the Supreme Court verdict.

The UPSC has also sought details from Law and Social Justice Ministries about the way forward. Last week, the Supreme Court quashed the Centre’s decision to include Jats in the category of other backward classes to provide them with reservation.
