[Video] US Cop Ends Up In Epic Dance-Off With Teen After Breaking Up Fight, Gets Praised by Obama

In Washington, DC police showed up in a neighborhood near the Nationals baseball stadium to break up a fight between two groups of teens on Monday. After it was over, a female DC police officer approached a group of teens who lingered behind on the sidewalk and asked them to leave.

However, she was challenged by high school girl who walked up to the officer, played “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)”, a tune by the American rapper Silentó on her phone and started to dance in front of the officer.

Rather than turning into a scary altercation, the officer just laughed and said she had far better dance moves. The dance-off between the police officer and 17-year-old Aaliyah Taylor, Ballou High School senior, happened and has ended up locked in an epic dance battle.

If Aaliyah won, the group could keep chilling on the street. If the cop won, they’d have to leave. “Instead of us fighting, she tried to turn it around and make it something fun,” Aaliyah said. Aaliyah said her dance-off with a Washington, D.C. police officer showed positive community policing

The video has already attracted many admirers on the Internet. The officer was praised by President Obama and her superiors for managing to diffuse the confrontation and get the teens to peacefully go their own way.

“Who knew community policing could involve the Nae Nae? Great example of police having fun while keeping us safe,” Obama wrote on Twitter.
