Watch AIB and EIC Videos: How Facebook is Promoting Free Basics & Net Neutrality to ‘Save the Internet’

Facebook’s Free Basics service has become a burning issue in India since its commencement. Initially, Facebook started internet.org and recently renamed it as Free Basics has received a lot of adverse response from experts all over the country as it was infringing Net Neutrality. Now, Facebook has come up with Free Basics in collaboration with Reliance. Currently, the Free basics service is in the midst of net neutrality debate which is said to offer free access to a set of basic websites and services with the intention of introducing the internet to the people.

In an effort to save Free Basics from getting forbidden in India, Facebook has come up with a new strategy by sending notifications to all the users of Facebook for signing up in support of Free Basics. Now, a Mumbai-based All India Bakchod (AIB) team has come up with a video exhorting the people to “Save the Internet.” The team has come out with the third video in their #SavetheInternet series.

Facebook Urges People to Support Free Basics

With this new video, AIB strives to explain how Facebook is trying to promote its Free Basics in India and the way the social media giant is moving with its aggressive marketing strategy so as to entice the deceptive users and get their support. Free Basics is nothing but the end of the way we’ve known the Internet so far. The AIB video urges people to support net neutrality by sending an email to TRAI through SavetheInternet.in before December 30, 2015. Recently, TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) had asked Reliance Communications to put Free Basics on hold too.
