Ringing Bells, a Noida-based company, launched India’s cheapest smartphone at Rs 251 on Wednesday. Since then, it has become the talking point everywhere. Even the launch of the first Apple iPhone doesn’t appear to have triggered such wide interest as the Freedom 251 has 😉

Owing to its low price, people don’t appear to give much thought before attempting to place an order. In an attempt to gauge the excitement and interest, TOI took the Freedom 251 around and showed it to people. Here’s how they reacted to the Rs 251 phone, which, if and when available to consumers, will be the world’s cheapest smart phone.

The flash sale for Freedom 251 started on Thursday at 6am. A lot of enthusiastic buyers woke up early in the morning to buy the cheapest smart phone, but to their surprise, the website crashed giving multiple errors. Later, the problem seems to be fixed and people were able to place the orders. The orders, according to the company, will be delivered in four months.
