Watch The Incredible GoPro Footage Of A NASA’s Rocket Launch Into Space
Here is the footage of a rocket launch that was recorded on November 6, 2015. UP Aerospace Inc. has launched a 20-foot tall SL-10 rocket into near-space. The target is to deploy the Maraia Capsule in order to test the aerodynamics and stability of payload.
As soon as the rocket’s launched, it begins a process called ‘spin-stabilisation’, where it spins with a high speed to control attitude and stay on course. Subsequently, the rocket, traveling at speeds of up to Mach 5.5 (3,800 miles per hour), reached an altitude of 396,000 feet before engine burnout.
About 90 seconds, it releases a 5kg re-entry capsule named Maraia, which enters the Earth’s atmosphere and then gracefully touches down at the US Army White Sands Missile Range.
GoPro captured the incredible footage using an HERO4 camera. The launch was a trial to see how well the Maraia capsule would fare, and it is done pretty well.
