On the occasion of the second anniversary of Telangana State Formation Day, Telangana Government hoisted India’s largest National Flag at Sanjeevaiah Park in Hyderabad. But the bad news is that authorities were forced to furl the flag after the gusty winds tore it after 4 days of its hoisting.

The officials took down the India’s largest flag on Monday as strong winds ripped it off. In line with the strict flag code, officials replaced the Tricolor flag late Monday night.

According to the code, “damaged or dishevelled flag should not be displayed” and instead “be destroyed as a whole in private, preferably by burning or by any other method consistent with the dignity of the flag.”

The experts blamed that the flag’s size and its length was not in proportion with the height of the mast. The flag pole length is measured to be 291 feet high which is India’s second largest flagpole. Earlier, Telangana Government planned of hoisting 303 feet long flagpole but the Airport Authority objected it.

They also criticised that the quality of the material used for the flag from Kolkata firm had manufactured for Rs 1.3 crore was poor.
