XI student was Chained by Family Members for 15 Years
A mentally challenged man who was chained to a pillar at his home in a village in neighbouring Mahisagar district for last several years was rescued by police and shifted to hospital. This man is thirty-year-old and was rescued by the police and local administration on Tuesday after it came to light that his family members had kept him tied by an iron chain and left him to live in the dingy corner of a hut for nearly 15 years.
Who was the man and why he was Chained?
The man, identified as Rameshbhai Damar, was confined by his family members and According to the family members, Damar was possessed by an evil spirit when he had gone to collect wood from the forest nearby along with his younger brother, Somabhai Damar, who told police that they were chased by the evil spirit which finally entered into the body of his elder brother.

When Damar was chained and why?
Damar was a Class XI student when he was tied up in the solitary corner of his house at Dodanavta village in Khanpur taluka of Gujarat’s Mahisagar district. His family members kept him forcibly confined because whenever he was set free, he’d pelt stones at family members and other villagers. Damar’s family members told police that they were forced to tie him up like this when he had started behaving odd one day after returning from the nearby forest.

After this rescue Damar was given a shower and new clothes and was presented before the judge of a local court at Bakor, who allowed him to be taken to the local hospital for treatment. The judge said that the victim should be taken to a mental hospital based on the report from a government hospital where he was taken for treatment.
