Mayawati Blames Tampered EVM’s For Her Loss In UP Elections, Twitter Reactions Are Priceless
BSP Chief Mayawati on Saturday blamed the Electronic Voter Machines (EVMs) for her party’s poor performance in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Not in a mood to accept the impending defeat, she accused the party of having rigged the elections by tampering with the electronic voting machines (EVMs).
Mayawati said that the EVMs should be investigated with the help of a team consisting of foreign experts and elections should be held again with the old ballot paper voting in Uttar Pradesh.
“The EVMs were altered. Either the EVMs did not accept votes of any parties other than the BJP or the votes of other parties have gone to BJP in the EVMs. Press any button the vote goes to BJP Most votes in Muslim majority constituencies have gone to BJP, which makes it evident that voting machines were manipulated,” charged Mayawati.
“Results of the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand assembly polls must be stopped immediately. This is my request to Election Commission,” said Mayawati.
“If the Prime Minister and Amit Shah are so honest, then conduct a repoll with ballot papers. The true situation will be revealed,” said Mayawati.
Mayawati has also said that the fact that the BJP has managed to win even in the Muslim dominated constituencies further proves her claim of the EVMs being manipulated.
Meanwhile, many Twitter users have countered the views of the BSP chief. While some took a dig at Mayawati. Here are some of the tweets.

Very irresponsible of Mayawati to question the very credibility of the time tested election process, just because BJP won from Muslim areas! https://t.co/RqAJeSYiDO

Big takeaway from UP: 38 seats needed to win 1 Rajya Sabha seat in Apr 2018. Mayawati will lose her own RS seat next year! #UPElection2017

The blaming of defeat on EVMs by @BspUp2017 Mayawati is so utterly ridiculous that words fail.

Mayawati is truly a sore loser! Shame on her for asking for elections to be held again under ‘international’ observers. She lost. Period.

Mayawati seems to be in biggest denial mode of her electoral life. Thank God Congress is winning in Punjab, else it would have echoed.

The Bahujan Samaj Party chief’s comments are not entirely unusual for politicians who have lost elections in India. Pattali Makal Katchi chief Anbumani Ramadoss, for example, demanded that India go back to the paper ballot system after his party failed to win a single seat in Tamil Nadu elections in 2016.
