Southern Railway Staff That Poured Dirty Water On A Homeless Man Has Been Suspended

2 Staff from the Southern Railway has been suspended after they poured dirty water on a homeless man at the Sutton Station, bystanders saw and captured the video which was posted on Facebook and went viral.

Heidi-Liv Gravesen captured the video and uploaded it on Facebook, she said: “This is how Southern fail staff treat another human being in Sutton and I didn’t start filming till they had already wacked him with the mop and put even more water on and around him. The complaint raised with Southern fail.”

The video showed staff members from the Southern Railway pour dirty water from what it looks like a mop bucket to the floor where the homeless man was seen lying down, this happened before they proceeded to mop the same area.

The staff of the Southern Railway started to ask why Heidi-Liv Gravesen filmed the incident and she responded:  “That’s absolutely disgusting. Disgbehaviorhaviour of another human being – that’s why I’m filming it.”

Gravesen said that there was trouble with the man earlier, but when the staff poured the dirt water on him he was sleeping and was doing nothing to anybody in the station.

She said: “My point is then call the police – two wrongs and all that.”

Gravesen was not the only one who got angry by watching what happened, one person said: “This is disgusting. Not only is this a vile way to treat anybody, it was outside the station, so on PUBLIC HIGHWAY!

“The water is filthy and looks like it had some kind of disinfectant in it, which is really dangerous to put on somebody’s skin. What’s worse, the worker says he’s going to get MORE!! I hope Southern fire these scumbags immediately.”

Another person said: “Have some respect for those less fortunate. I wonder if he’d do that to a normal commuter who decided to sit down and refused to move.”

A third person said: “The worlds gone mad. Can’t we treat people in the way we’d also like to be treated?”

One person advised the staff to ‘Never look down on someone, unless you’re helping them up’

The Southern Railway said that they have suspended 2 of its staff after watching the video, and one more has been suspended.

Passenger Services Director of the Southern Railway, Angie Doll said: “We take this incident extremely seriously and have started an investigation. We suspended the two members of staff seen in the video and a third colleague who we identified from station CCTV. We would like to apologise to the homeless man and we are trying to make contact with him to offer help and support.”
