50-Year-Old Gujarati Fisherman Dies In Pakistan Jail
A 50-year-old Gujarati fisherman has passed away in a jail in Pakistan. The 50-year-old fisherman has been identified as Bhikhabhai Bambhniya, he was a resident of Paldi Village, which is located in Una Taluka of Gir-Somnath District, Gujarat.
This happened after a Pakistani national passed away in the Amritsar Jail on Thursday.
Jivan Jungi, the leader of the Fishermen in Porbandar town said that they got the news regarding the death of the fisherman on Thursday.
Jivan Jungi who is also a member of the Pakistan-India Peace Forum and Democracy said “We learnt that he was unwell and was hospitalised and died on March 4. We have received a news about fisherman identified as Bhikhabhai Bambhaniya on Thursday evening and we have informed about it to Ministry of External Affairs to expedite process to bring back the deceased’s mortal remains to his native village for final rites. We are hopeful that the Indian fisherman’s mortal remains would arrive soon.”
The constant tension between both countries added a tremendous pressure and worries to at least 500 families in the Gujarat’s fishing community whose family members are currently in the Pakistani Jails.
According to reports, Bhikhabhai and other Indian fishermen ventured to the Arabian Sea and was detained by the Pakistan Marine Security Agency on 15 November 2017 as they were fishing near the international maritime borders.
Both countries are frequently arresting those fishermen who venture near the country’s waters.
Recently, a Pakistani citizen died after joining a brawl with other inmates in the Jaipur Central Jail, the reason behind the brawl was the volume of the TV. 50-year-old Shakul Ullah was from Sialkot, the Punjab region of Pakistan, got hit by a stone during the fight in the Jail.
