A police officer from Texas shot a black woman who grabbed his Taser and used it against him, the woman said that she was “Pregnant” during the altercation with the police officer.

Lieutenant Steve Dorris said that Pamela Turner was shot dead on Monday at an apartment complex in Baytown, which is 40 kilometers east of Houston, she passed away on the scene.

Lieutenant Dorris said that the police officer was patrolling the complex, he tried to arrest 44-year-old Pamela Turner because she had outstanding warrants.

The police officer is Hispanic and has been in the Police Department for 11 years. The officer had previous dealings with Pamela.

But, Lt. Dorris did not share any details about the warrants of Pamela Turner and her interactions with the police officer.

Lieutenant Dorris said that the police officer fired at Pamela when she grabbed his Taser and used it against him.

A video was posted on Snapchat, and in the short clip, you can hear a woman saying “You’re actually harassing me” and “I’m actually walking to my house”.

Pamela was also heard saying “I’m Pregnant”.

Lieutenant Dorris said that the autopsy will determine if Pamela Turner is pregnant or not, the Lt. added that the police officer was not seriously hurt.

Raquelle Ceullar, a resident of the area said, “It was a sad situation. Tragic. The lady … she did live here. We would often see her, see her walk her dog around.”

The police officer who shot Pamela Turner has been placed on a paid administrative leave as a part of the standard protocol. When the incident happened, the police officer was wearing a body-cam, the Lt. added that a probe has been launched.

During a press interview, Lieutenant Dorris said, “It’s a tragic event for everyone involved. Our hearts go out to the family of the deceased. We want to get all the questions answered that we can.”

Lt. Dorris added, “We never want things to get to this.”

The police are also finding the person who took the video as he/she was a witness of the incident and the shooting.

The police officer who shot Pamela is also aware that the video has been circulating on social media platforms.
