Unable to bear the guilt of his sexual assault on an eight-year-old girl, a former Indian Air Force (IAF) officer committed suicide by jumping in front of a train near Nizamuddin railway station. The 62-year-old man, who lived in his brother’s apartment in southeast Delhi‘s Sunlight colony area, allegedly assaulted the daughter of his tenant on Saturday evening. According to the police, the incident took place around 5 pm when the girl, who lives on the fourth floor of the building, was returning from her tuition classes.

A senior police officer said, “When the victim was taking the stairs to her fourth-floor flat, the man, who lived alone on the second floor, called her in. He locked the door and forcibly removed her clothes and assaulted her. She told us that the man threatened her against disclosing anything to her parents and even promised her gifts if she obeyed.”

Later, when the victim reached her home the girl’s mother shocked to see the torn clothes. Upon repeated questions from mother the girl narrated the incident to her mother who approached the police.

But when a police team went to the residence of the accused he was missing. Later in the evening, the body of the accused was found near the railway tracks.

Guilty of the crime, the old man called his brother at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh and confessed to his crime and ends his life by jumping before moving Train. The survivor’s family said the girl was still in shock and was receiving counselling.
