Hockey India Launched its Campaign With 3-0 in Over Poland

Indian Hockey team was successful and effective winning their first game against France with 3-2 close battle on the opening day of Hockey World League. During the first session of the match, Poland made it efforts to annoy and  interrupt the tempo of Indian hockey team with its favorable breezy conditions and 16 degree Celsius temperature seemed denying Indian team control over the goal.

Polish players annoyed Indian players for a long duration of time by crowding their defence and successively relied on the long passes among their teammates and players from their territory to build up some brisk counters. Although Indian hockey team players broke through frustrating strategies of crowded Polish to impinge on with three goals consecutively.

Amid their frustrating tactics against the Indian hockey team Poland hockey team gained a penalty corner shoot out in the 20th minute while the captain of Poland team Pawel Bratkowski’s rising drag flick was palmed away by goalkeeper P R Sreejesh.  Taking an advantage in the 23rd minute of the game Indian hockey player Yuvraj opened the scoring for India when a long diagonal ball deflected towards him off a defender’s stick and he made no mistake in flicking it past the hapless goalkeeper.

Despite the absence of the recuperating Rupinder Singh from an injury suffered in the warm-up matches of the league Indian hockey team was impressive with their three penalty corners. With a stinging reverse drive from the top of the scoring circle into the left corner of the goal increased the lead in the 41st minute by the Sardar.

Devinder Walmiki left his trademark impressions on Indian hockey team hitting and scoring his second goal in successive matches in his debut tournament by deflecting in a diagonal ball from Chinglensana Singh in the 52nd minutes. It was a draw match between Great Britain and Ireland in the Pool B fixture where Ireland rallied from a two-goal deficit in the first quarter to make the game a draw game with their successive and instantaneous strategies.

Ireland team is demonstrating a lot of resolve in earning a point in the first outing of this World League Semifinals recalling its narrow miss in qualifying for the 2012 Olympic Games. With the field strikes from the captain Barry Middleton (5th minute) and Iain Lewers (8th) Great Britain was two goals ahead before the Irish hit back. Irish Player Kyle Good’s 19th-minute strike in open play and immediate live action by John Jackson firing the equalizer goal in six minutes into the second session made the game to end at a good note for Irish team as it was expected.

On other hand, Great Britain has two matched which were drawn against two different teams of Ireland and the Belgium 2-2 on the opening day which doesn’t seem to be so felicitous consequence for them.
