BJP MP Maheish Girri has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking him to rename Aurangzeb Road in the national capital to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road. On his recent meeting with Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, he handed him a letter which requested to rename Aurangzeb Road in New Delhi as Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road.

As a tribute to the People’s President, I hereby propose to rename the ‘ Aurangzeb Road’ in New Delhi to ‘Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road’. In my opinion, this will be a great way of preserving his memories and legacy forever,” wrote Girri.

India’s former president and the “missile man” Dr APJ Abdul Kalam bid farewell to the world on Monday, July 27 at IIM-Shillong, many states decided to name educational institutions after his name, as a token of love and tribute. To keep alive the memories of the “people’s president”, there has been an online clamour to rename national capital Delhi’s posh Aurengzeb Road as APJ Abdul Kalam Marg.
