This Taxi Driver Returned Rs 6 Lakhs Left Behind By A Passenger
Bideswar Saw (52), a cab driver in Kolkata, stunned one and all in the Kasba Police Station, when he came to return a leather bag that full of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. He returned Rs. 6 lakh to the police. The amount the cab driver wanted to return in the police station belonged to a passenger of his, whom he had dropped at Rajabazaar area.
It is reported that the Bideshwar noticed a black leather bag in the backseat of the cab, after the passenger got down at Rajabazaar area. According to police the cab driver did not open the bag until evening, after which he immediately went to the police station on seeing the cash which was inside the bag.
“I waited at the spot for 10 minutes, hoping the man would return. When he did not return, I kept the bag with me without opening it. In the evening, before going home, I thought I should go back to the same spot to look for the man but before that I opened the bag to check its contents. When I saw the notes I went straight to the police station,” Bideshwar said.
“I was awestruck at the honesty of the man who told me he knew there was Rs 6 lakh inside the bag and still, came to return it,” the officer said.
“When we contacted the Narkeldanga police station, we were told a man had lodged a complaint. He was called here and handed over the bag in front of Saw,” the officer said.
